Robinson-Martin Security Scholars Academy (RMSSA) is a two-semester educational program that has, to date, trained over six hundred highly trained, young security professionals who are indispensable for safeguarding the hard-fought freedoms of the Czech Republic and made them valuable contributors to common security, economic and foreign policy structures like NATO, the EU and others.
Among the distinguished lecturers engaged in the RMSSA lectures have been Rasmus Hindren from the Hybrid Center of Excellence in Helsinki, Karel Řehka, Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces and Tomáš Kopečný, Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and former Deputy Minister of Defence Czech Deputy Minister of Defense., Karel Schwarzenberg, former Minister of the Foreign Affairs, Alexandr Vondra, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense; Petr Kolář, former Czech Ambassador to Russia and former Ambassador to the U.S.; Karel Kovanda, Former Deputy Director-General responsible for CFSP, DG RELEX, EC; Richard Graber, Former US Ambassador to Prague; Josef Zielenec, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Jiří Šedivý Former Chief of the Staff of the Czech Armed Forces.
PSSI was the first public policy group in the Czech Republic – and one of the first in the region -- to take on this educational mission with the active encouragement and involvement of former Czech President Václav Havel, who was a leading member of PSSI’s distinguished International Advisory Board, and our beloved Co-Founder and Executive Director, Olda Černý, whose legacy will be honored through the brilliant careers of our almost student alumni – with many more to come.
We are proud that after twenty years of educating future policy practitioners, we can now count among our alumni a number of distinguished senior government officials, including the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský; Deputy Chief of Mission of the Czech Embassy to the US and a Former Deputy Minister for Defence Policy and Strategy at the Czech Ministry of Defence Jan Havránek, and Tomáš Kopečný, Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and a former Deputy Minister of Defence.
