PSSI Now Accepting Applications for a Project Assistant for its Regional Security Program’s Disinformation Project

PSSI is looking for a Project Assistant for its Regional Security Program. The candidate should ideally have knowledge in the disinformation portfolio. Prior experience in research, analysis and policy-making is welcome. He/She should be able to work part-time (up to 20 hr./week) starting in the first half of April 2024 for a minimum of six months with the possibility of an extension and career growth. The position is located in Prague and is suitable for university students in M.A. and Ph.D. programs, or young professionals.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2024. Applicants will be contacted regarding interviews in the first week of April, 2024. Applicants should send a structured CV and a maximum one-page written sample to sefcikova@pssi.cz responding to the following question: "How do you evaluate the effectiveness of the Czech response to domestic disinformation and the related challenges?"

Training and mentorship will be provided. Initial compensation will be at 15 000 CZK/month. The preference is given to applicants open to longer-term cooperation (one year and more). The Project Assistant would be working at PSSI’s Prague offices with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. 

Focus areas:

The Project Assistant will participate in ongoing PSSI’s projects focused on the areas of disinformation, strategic communication, and foreign malign influence in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including cooperation with partners from the CEE. The portfolio of activities changes regularly. Current projects include research of European Parliament election-related disinformation and investigations of organizational and financial background of disinformation actors, among others.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the work of PSSI’s Regional Security Program’s Project Manager;

  • Conducting research and preparing written outputs; 

  • Conducting media monitoring;

  • Helping organize events and representing PSSI at events and meetings; 

  • Conducting administrative tasks, including fulfilling reporting and financial oversight and assisting with fundraising activities.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills (Czech and English proficiency);

  • Strong research and analytical skills;

  • Experience with project implementation (research, event organization); 

  • Ability to work under time pressure and attention to detail;

  • Commitment to the organization’s values and mission success.
