24 Mar 2021/PSSI

Dr. Jana Robinson, PSSI Space Security Program Director, presented, as a member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the IAA’s 2018 Study on Space Traffic Management, entitled “Space Traffic Management: Towards a Roadmap for Implementation”, at the 3rd Meeting of the European Space Traffic Management (STM) Conference Preparatory Group.

The second IAA study of 2018 was preceded by a 2006 study which delivered a technical definition of STM. The latter study recommended: an interdisciplinary approach; active involvement of decision-makers at national levels; coordination in international fora; and raising public awareness. It brings a multidisciplinary approach to, and an update on, global space activities, a structure for a Space Traffic Management regime, and a concrete roadmap for implementation with a timeline.
