Energy Security Academy 2016 - Call for Applications

Innovative Technologies Advancing Energy Security

 

Are you interested in the field of energy and keen to learn more about the current and future challenges facing Central Europe? Would you like to gain a stronger outlook and understanding of how technological innovation necessary to meet growing energy demand can advance energy security in the region? 

This one-week intensive course organized by the Prague Security Studies Institute and Masaryk University in Brno will introduce you to the driving forces and emerging trends transforming the energy sector, including the complex interrelations between different issues, actors and technology developments .

The course will take place in Prague from February 8-12, 2016.

The program comprises both lectures and practical workshops. Among the speakers will be distinguished Czech and foreign energy experts, leading policy practitioners and industry players. Lectures will focus on current and future energy security challenges for Central Europe and possible approaches to cope with them, including both technical and policy issues. Addressed topics will include different aspects of electricity production and distribution, such as smart grids, renewable sources of energy or possible future developments in the nuclear field; energy storage; or use of unconventional sources of gas or hardly accessible gas fields.

Knowledge of both Czech and English is necessary for attending the course.

A certificate will be delivered upon successful completion of the course. In the previous years, a number of students received a couple of study credits from their universities for attending this course.
