Andrew K. Davenport

Andrew Davenport is Deputy Executive Director of PSSI Washington as well as a Board Member of the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI), a leading think tanks in Central and Eastern Europe focused on international security concerns.  Mr. Davenport likewise serves as Chief Operating Officer of RWR Advisory Group, a Washington, DC-based consulting firm that specializes on geopolitical risk management and, specifically, the economic and financial dimensions of soft power projection and hybrid warfare.

Mr. Davenport has extensive experience researching the risk and threat implications of corporate and banking activity in countries that present security concerns, the role of state-owned enterprises in the projection of soft power by nation states and providing related advisory services to both private and public sector clients.  Mr. Davenport has likewise pioneered the area of “global security risk” as a new risk factor in the global financial markets through new open source research techniques, corporate governance and shareholder activism.

Mr. Davenport was previously in the same line of business as Vice President of Conflict Securities Advisory Group (CSAG), which he co-founded in October 2001 and where he served as Vice President until 2009.  During this period, CSAG emerged as the leading provider of research on corporate ties to U.S.-sanctioned states and related compliance products.  CSAG provides solutions to leading institutional investors, asset managers and state and federal government agencies.  After CSAG merged with IW Financial in 2007 to provide a fuller scope of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) data and consulting solutions, Mr. Davenport served on the Board of Directors until the company’s acquisition by Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) in 2016.

Mr. Davenport has published extensively in his area of expertise, including in the OpEd sections of the Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, Forbes and the Journal of International Security Affairs.  He has testified before the U.S. Congress and several state legislatures and served as an expert panellist at a number of conferences and roundtables.  He has advised multiple agencies of the U.S. government, state governments, foreign governments as well as multinational corporations, fund managers and institutional investors from around the world on the intersection of global business and national security concerns.

Mr. Davenport has an MA in Security Policy Studies from George Washington University and a BS in Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University.
