Sam Carruthers - Assistant Researcher

Sam Carruthers joined PSSI as an Assistant Research in October 2019. He previously worked as a Research Intern for the Peace Research Center Prague, contributing to the Frozen Conflicts Project, and as a Proofreader for European Values Think Tank in Prague. He also has experience as a Project Leader for MOCHE Inc. in Ciudad de Dios, Peru, coordinating a development project and working alongside women’s cooperatives to more effectively market cultural products. 

He holds a Master’s in International Security Studies from Charles University in Prague at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He wrote his Master’s thesis as a case study on countermeasures against Russian information warfare and the securitization of disinformation within EU member states. His studies focused on disinformation in the Baltic states, Russian/Eurasian issues, and Transatlantic security architecture. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Politics with a Secondary Emphasis in Spanish from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. His Bachelor’s thesis dealt with the Mérida Initiative and bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Mexico in the ‘War on Drugs.’
