PSSI and Charles University to hold three public lectures on space security

PSSI and Charles University’s Institute of Political Studies, in collaboration with the American Center, are organizing a series of three public lectures on the topic of space security. On November 8, an international law expert and Czech diplomat Martina Šmuclerová will introduce the international legal framework of space activities and its strengths and limitations in managing security challenges related to operations in this domain.

On November 20, Yukiko Okumura, an expert in Space Law and Policy working for the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs will discuss transparency and confidence-building measures for space and issues related to the coordination of the peaceful uses of outer space in the United Nations in the period ahead.

Finally, on November 27, Cenan Al-Ekabi, Research Fellow at the European Space Policy Institute in Vienna, will offer a broad overview of Europe’s activities in space, giving special attention to the security dimensions, from its initial drivers to the current main efforts.
