On December 5, 2016, PSSI and Charles University co-organized, as part of the University’s course entitled “Space Security in the 21st Century”, a guest lecture with Agnieszka Lukaszczyk, an Officer at the Space Data for Societal Challenges and Growth Unit at the European Commission’s (EC) Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROWTH). Ms. Lukaszczyk provided an overview of the EU’s Earth observation program, Copernicus, its space component, data policy and services, with a special emphasis on the Emergency Management and Security service. She highlighted the EC’s efforts in supporting the development and marketing of its downstream services. Ms. Lukaszczyk also reviewed briefly the new EU Space Strategy.
