PSSI Ivana Smolenova comments for Slovak daily newspaper 'Dennik N'

25.04.2016

PSSI Communications and Outreach Manager Ivana Smoleňová commented for Slovak daily newspaper 'Dennik N' on Latvia's authorities deicision to suspend Sputnik's operations via the national domain '.lv'. The Russian government-backed news platform quickly reacted and adopted a new domain in order to reach the Latvian public. In the Czech Republic, the platform operates through the domain cz.sputniknews.com/.

''Many Russian and pro-Russian media portray themselves as victims of mainstream, evil West and politicians who supress freedom. Such a step [banning Sputnik] could then be used to suggest that even the West is trying to supress freedom of speech. This does not change the fact that Sputnik is not relevant media, but a tool of Russian propaganda, often spreading lies and disinformation" says Ivana Smoleňová.
