PSSI Communications and Outreach Manager Ivana Smoleňová commented for Slovak daily newspaper 'Dennik N' on Latvia's authorities deicision to suspend Sputnik's operations via the national domain '.lv'. The Russian government-backed news platform quickly reacted and adopted a new domain in order to reach the Latvian public. In the Czech Republic, the platform operates through the domain cz.sputniknews.com/.
''Many Russian and pro-Russian media portray themselves as victims of mainstream, evil West and politicians who supress freedom. Such a step [banning Sputnik] could then be used to suggest that even the West is trying to supress freedom of speech. This does not change the fact that Sputnik is not relevant media, but a tool of Russian propaganda, often spreading lies and disinformation" says Ivana Smoleňová. Read the full article (in Slovak).
