PSSI’s Space Security Program Director, Jana Robinson, chaired a panel entitled “Fostering Cooperation and Non-Weaponisation of Space” at the annual international conference of the EU Non-Proliferation Consortium held in Brussels on November 11-12, 2015. The meeting (agenda available here) brought together European and other governmental and non-governmental experts in the fields of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), small arms and light weapons (SALW), disarmament issues, and space. The panel on space discussed various threats to the safety and security of outer space activities and sought to identify what common ground can be identified in seeking to establish principles and behavioral norms governing space activities. It likewise discussed most urgent priorities in the pursuit of a safe and stable operational environment in space.
