PSSI organized two roundtables on the Middle East

23.04.2012

On March 28, 2012 the Prague Security Studies Institute organized a roundtable debate with professor Hillel Frisch, who teaches at the Departments of Political Studies and Middle East Studies in Bar-Ilan University, Israel and is a Senior Researcher in BESA Center for Strategic Studies. Professor Frisch specializes in Middle Eastern and Palestinian politics and security studies.

In his opening remarks professor Frisch discussed the reason why there is currently no progress in the peace process between Israel and Palestine. He talked about the domestic situation in Israel, competing political forces in Palestinian society and also about the role of external players. In the following debate professor Frisch discussed the potential consequences for Israel following the latest changes in Egypt and Syria.

On April 18, Ambassador Jeremy Issacharoff, Deputy Director General, Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the latest guest speaker at PSSI's increasingly popular roundtable series.  Ambassador Issacharoff, who had recently traveled to both the US and Russia for high level bilateral meetings, presented the Israeli position on Iran's quest for weaponizing nuclear materials.  The roundtable also discussed the crisis in Syria and the role of Russia and China in the Middle East.
