Ronald Reagan: Inspired Freedom

June 30-July 1, 2011, Prague

Prague Security Studies Institute and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation will be holding an international conference entitled “Ronald Reagan: Inspired Freedom” that will take place on June 30-July 1, 2011 in Prague.

The conference, held under the auspices of Karel Schwarzenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Alexandr Vondra, Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic and Miroslava Němcová, Chairwoman of the Czech Parliament's Chamber of Deputies, will comprise two informal roundtables discussing both the politics of Ronald Reagan and its impact on the region of Central and Eastern Europe as well as President Reagan's message for the 21st century. President Reagan´s bold and straightforward approach was not the only factor that brought down communism in Central and Eastern Europe. But there is little doubt that without it the road to freedom would have been far more complicated and uncertain.

The keynote speech will be made by former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Other confirmed participants include: John O'Sullivan, Executive Editor, RFE/RL, USA/Czech Republic; Charles Kesler, Senior Fellow, The Claremont Institute, USA and Pete Wilson, Former Governor of California, USA. The conference will include several social events and unveiling of the Ronald Reagan Street in Prague.

The conference is part of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration, a series of public and private events designed to increase awareness of Ronald Reagan’s achievements and legacy and his message of freedom, hope and opportunity throughout the world.
